Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Provide day-to-day oversight of equipment pool.
  • Provide asset management support to all operations to maximize equipment utilization and reduce costs.
  • Maintain information in JDE equipment master for integrity.
  • Monitor fleet compliance; work with locations to assure regulatory compliance and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Attend Operations and Production meetings to understand upcoming needs and to provide operations with updates on equipment.
  • Receive, evaluate, and react to all requests for equipment purchases, leases, long term rentals and transfers. Follow up with asset review in equipment master to ensure all information and location are correct.
  • Assist Regional Asset Manager in development of 10-year replacement schedule based on useful life guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Shop Duties



  • Implement Safety awareness programs for shop/field mechanics; participate in safety audits and shop safety meetings.
  • Work with Operations on all major repairs and PM's and manage monthly expenses.
  • Work with Vendors on repairs and service contracts. Assist in resolving service issues.
  • Assist with equipment training schedules for both mechanics and operators.


Purchasing & Inventory



  • Responsible for all purchases related to shops, construction, and general purchasing. Assist with production purchasing as needed.
  • Assure high quality customer service and efficient purchasing & inventory processes.
  • Assist with the purchasing of all equipment & rentals and negotiate and manage all contracts for purchasing of rolling stock repair parts & service.
  • Direct management of internal inventory levels / Vendor stocking levels within each shop.
  • Responsible for accurate fuel tracking.
  • Monitor Tire program and review bills monthly w/ local Reps.


Equipment Pool



  • Monitor all equipment rates, both flat rate and hourly. Review rates with operating managers and the Regional Asset Manager as needed for adjustment.
  • Set-up all equipment and rentals in JDE system. Assign equipment numbers, rate groups, and rates.
  • Review variance reports monthly and communicate variances with operating managers.
  • Monitor and manage all equipment, both pools and rentals for utilization, damage and returns.
  • Work with operations to determine proper equipment for jobs and evaluate equipment value/ life to determine highest value repair decisions.
  • Oversee all licensing, special permitting issues, fuel tanks and monitoring systems.
  • Monitor Oil change intervals, review reports and monitor life cycle cost of all equipment.


Responsible for PUC's and accurate fuel tracking of mobile assets

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 5 years' experience in managing equipment pool, with experience in managing people
  • Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Proficient with operations of personal computer, iPhone, iPad with standard applications; outlook word processing, spreadsheet presentation software, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Skilled communicator both written and orally
  • Flexibility in schedule; regular travel will be required
