POSITION SUMMARY: The Paralegal works with the Legal Department staff on all legal and compliance matters as assigned by the General Counsel. The Corporate Paralegal/Litigation and Employment Law is a person qualified through education, training or work experience to assist in managing legal processes, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate would be detailed oriented and possess strong organizational, research and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist internal and external counsel in managing litigation matters, including discovery, case management, and trial preparation.
- Assist in responding to subpoenas, demand letters, and other legal requests from regulatory agencies.
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings related to employment law and litigation.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, position statements, and internal policies based on changes in the law and regulations.
- Maintain and organize case files, legal databases, and document repositories.
- Coordinate with HR, Compliance, Security and other departments on employment-related legal issues, including investigations, compliance, and training.
- Manage deadlines and ensure timely filings and responses.
- Assist with risk assessments related to employment practices and litigation exposure.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree or certificate from ABA-approved paralegal school.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) preferred.
- 4+ years of experience as a Paralegal in a corporate office or law firm environment.
- Must have experience focused on litigation and employment law.
- Previous corporate healthcare experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document management systems.Must have knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs
- Keen discretion and professionalism in maintaining confidential information
- Management of competing priorities independently.
- Knowledge of e-discovery platforms and legal software, preferred.
