KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern to join our Washington National Tax practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide tax services to a full range of corporate clients, including major multinationals, with opportunities to be involved with a team on large transactional projects (cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, bankruptcy emergence and related restructuring issues), as well as opportunities to take part in more discrete analyses on specific technical tax issues
  • Draft tax memoranda and tax opinions; research and analyze complex corporate tax issues, including issues pertaining to consolidated groups and international tax
  • Collaborate with other practice groups in Washington National Tax and local office professionals on client matters
  • Assist with the development of firm wide technical tax policy and creation of firm wide corporate tax training materials
  • Draft technical articles on subchapter C issues for internal and external use
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI and more

Qualifications:
  • Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months: a JD and/or LLM, or equivalent program from an accredited college or university
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Coursework or knowledge of basic corporate tax principles preferred
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude, critical thinking and research skills and ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; resourceful in delivering high quality work
  • Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation; ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
