Job Description

Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper bottler founded in Birmingham, AL more than 123 years ago. Buffalo Rock manages the best alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage portfolio in the country, which includes several beloved global and regional brands. The primary duty of the ROM is to manage the operations function at the franchise level. This includes supervising the operations team, directing all retail delivery, distribution, and merchandising of products of the Buffalo Rock Company, making sure all deliveries are made on time with all the product needed to complete the order, and directing operations support workflow.

Essential Functions



  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, holidays. Travel may be required May be required to be on-call.
  • Managing the operations function.
  • Supervising the operations team.
  • Interviewing, hiring, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, rewarding, and disciplining subordinate employees, and making recommendations with regard to promotions, demotions, and other changes of status.
  • Establish and monitor all operations and objectives through the efficient operation of our total retail route operation system.
  • Follow SOP on minimum meeting schedule and guidelines (i.e. Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly) as directed by level.
  • Must schedule, conduct, facilitate, attend, and/or participate in meetings.
  • Ensure that ROSs utilize available tools identified for effective operation (i.e. ROM to drive tablet or another comparable resource/tool usage. ROM should execute batch file updates to tablet each morning.)
  • Prepare and/or present to employee partners appropriate information on operations.
  • Recommend changes in basic retail structure and organization to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it and provide the flexibility to react to market conditions.
  • Oversee training of employee-partners in the operations function.
  • Work with HR to schedule new hire orientations and work schedule.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work for ROS position.
  • Prepare and conduct ROS, ROL, MRC evaluations.
  • Address both internal and external complaints and resolve problems.
  • Responsible for both long term and short-term product forecasting with GSM and warehouse operations for retail sales.
  • Monitor all accounts to ensure proper service based on Buffalo Rock Company Policy for service frequency and merchandising.
  • Monitor accounts for full distribution of all authorized current and future products distributed by the Buffalo Rock Company based on the individual customer product authorization.
  • Develop and maintain positive professional customer relationships.
  • Regularly review relevant policies/procedures for possible change and properly communicate the changes.
  • Complete all required paperwork to Company Policy and timeline.
  • Achieve and monitor all account program key objectives.
  • Monitor department payroll and make any necessary changes.
  • Monitor hours, time clock functions, and DOT logs to ensure compliance with all DOT and other federal, state or local wage and hour laws.
  • Ensure compliance with all equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and no-harassment laws and policies.
  • Coordinate resets and new store openings and assist where necessary.
  • Participate and contribute to the franchise's "Strategic Planning" process.
  • Work special events or other events associated with the Buffalo Rock Company or the Franchise as directed.
  • Ensure adherence to customer policies for vendors or suppliers, which may include but are not limited to business conduct policies, business ethics policies, legal policies, and delivery and merchandising policies.
  • Schedule all Operations Support staff weekly and daily to ensure all delivery functions are covered, and cover routes if necessary.
  • Manage retail route deliveries and sequencing and any rerouting that is required.
  • Work with Operations on DOT and CDL files.
  • Manage for each ROS arrival of materials from ROCKY.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience



  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (or management approval); Required.
  • Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, ShareFile, OneNote, and OneDrive
  • Experience: 3 plus years of Sales and Management Experience (or management approval); Required
  • Certifications and Licenses: Valid state Class A CDL driver's license, for state of residence, with a good driving record; Required
