REGIONAL SAFETY MANAGER

The Regional Safety Manager provides leadership and oversight for safety performance across an assigned geographic region. This role partners closely with Regional Operations leadership and project teams to ensure safe project execution, regulatory compliance, and consistent implementation of enterprise safety standards.

Serving as a visible field leader and trusted advisor, the Regional Safety Manager drives proactive risk mitigation, supports incident response, and strengthens regional safety culture through active engagement, coaching, and accountability.

Qualifications:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum seven (7) years dedicated to building construction safety
  • Minimum five (5) years of construction safety process management experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of field-based safety experience
  • Experience in commercial, Federal, or Data Center construction environments
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 502 certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certification (within two years)
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to identify exposures and implement effective corrective actions
  • Commitment to obtaining ASP or CSP certification within two (2) years of appointment


Preferred:



  • CSP certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Multi-project or regional safety oversight experience
  • Documented training and practical experience in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical safety, and incident investigations

Office and Travel:

Office: Various jobsites and/or Field Operations in the U.S. Mountain West regions - ND, SD, WY, & MT

Travel: In addition to regional meetings, overnight travel may be involved

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Regional Safety Leadership



  • Provide safety oversight across multiple projects within the assigned region.
  • Partner with Regional Operations leadership to integrate safety into planning, execution, and performance discussions.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, prevention, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and Safety Team members.
  • Support development and enhancement of regional and enterprise safety programs.


McGough Safety Team Collaboration



  • Perform responsibilities in alignment with McGough's culture, vision, ethics, and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project and regional safety programs.
  • Manage time and resources effectively to support assigned projects.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and support team knowledge sharing.
  • Provide coverage for Safety Team members as needed.


Safety Oversight & Risk Management



  • Enforce safety programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with company, federal, state, local, and owner requirements.
  • Lead preconstruction safety planning meetings to review hazards and mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct routine jobsite audits and walkthroughs to identify exposures and reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex safety issues, regulatory inspections, and compliance matters.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Intervene in unsafe practices and provide appropriate coaching and follow-up.


Coaching, Training, and Field Engagement



  • Provide technical and administrative direction to on-site safety personnel.
  • Coach Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen on hazard recognition and mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate site-wide safety meetings and deliver company safety training programs.
  • Assess training needs and recommend solutions to project leadership and the Safety Team.
  • Mentor and support development of project-level safety professionals.


Reporting, Analytics & Administration



  • Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and identify regional trends.
  • Prepare and review inspection reports and safety documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide regular safety performance updates to Regional leadership and the Safety Director.
  • Maintain jobsite safety records in accordance with compliance standards.

  • Collaborate across departments to align safety efforts with operational goals.
  • Participate in Safety Team initiatives, Lean events, and continuous improvement efforts aligned with the McGough Way.
  • Support company-sponsored events and initiatives that promote engagement and safety excellence.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal. Employee must be able to communicate effectively in a typical office environment with a standard level of office noise. Occasional standing, bending, walking and lifting is also required.

Employee will be required to visit construction jobsites, which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures. In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites. This includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances, and climbing stairs.
