Foley & Lardner is seeking an associate with 4-6 years of relevant experience to join our Fund Formation & Investment Management (FFIM) Practice Group. The preferred location for the position is Boston, but we are open to considering qualified candidates in Chicago, Dallas, or New York. Alternate Foley office locations may be considered based on business need and the candidate's experience. Our FFIM practice group offers the full suite of services to GPs and LPs; we understand the business objectives, dynamics and trends of GPs, LPs and the entire private funds industry.
Qualified candidates must have solid fund formation and investment management experience, including fund and management structuring, negotiating for and against institutional investors (such as government pension plans, funds-of-funds, endowments and foundations), secondary sales of LP fund stakes (both buy- and sell-side) and GP-led fund restructurings. Candidate should also have a working knowledge of (1) Investment Advisers Act registration, (2) compliance experience, and (3) Securities Act as it relates to private investment funds. The ideal candidate will bring strong drafting skills and the ability to manage sophisticated matters staffed by multiple attorneys and paralegals. They will be comfortable working in collaborative teams and engaging directly with partners, senior counsel, senior associates, and clients. A proactive mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and an exceptional work ethic are essential, along with a genuine interest in contributing to a fast growing, high performing, and collegial practice. Applicants must hold a JD from an ABA accredited law school and be active members in good standing of the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where admitted to practice. Timely admission to the bar of the hiring office's state will be a condition of employment. The expected salary range for this position is between $290,000 - $390,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, experience, internal pay equity at Foley, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
