Lead the Future of Community-Based Oncology Care

Virginia Cancer Specialists (VCS) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and people-centered Executive Director (ED) to lead one of our high-performing community-based oncology practices. This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished healthcare executive to make a meaningful impact-driving growth, operational excellence, and exceptional patient and employee experience in partnership with physicians and clinical leaders.

As Executive Director, you will serve as the senior operational leader for the practice, with broad responsibility for business operations while partnering closely with physician leadership on strategy and growth. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture, advancing innovation, and ensuring long- and short-term financial and operational success.

What You'll Do

As Executive Director, you will be accountable for the overall performance of the practice and will:

  • Lead the development and execution of short- and long-term strategic and operating plans, including growth, efficiency, cost management, quality, and talent development
  • Serve as a trusted partner to physician leadership, ensuring alignment between practice strategy and The US Oncology Network's objectives
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with hospital systems and external partners, driving collaborative initiatives
  • Champion a high-engagement culture rooted in trust, collaboration, accountability, and a positive patient experience
  • Oversee and develop a senior leadership team across operations, clinical services, HR, marketing, payer strategy, pharmacy, and research
  • Ensure strong financial performance, operational discipline, and effective performance management processes
  • Advise the Practice President, Joint Policy Board, and Regional Senior Vice President on business conditions, risks, and opportunities

Who Will Thrive in This Role

We are looking for an executive leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership and strong emotional intelligence. Ideal candidates will bring:

  • A proven track record of senior healthcare leadership, ideally in physician-led or services-based healthcare organizations
  • Deep experience across operations, finance, growth strategy, marketing of services, and revenue cycle
  • Demonstrated success partnering with and building credibility among physician leaders
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to set clear direction, develop talent, and lead change
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills
  • Experience navigating complex payer environments, including value-based care and ACO models

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or a related field required; MBA or MHA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of healthcare management and operations experience
