Overview The Strategic Partnerships Specialist will be responsible for helping strategically advance corporate giving and employee engagement programs that align with Orange & Rockland focus areas of climate adaptation, social justice, and clean energy and technology careers. Also identifies opportunities to help strengthen, shape, and expand employee engagement across Orange & Rockland service area. The Specialist also maintains data integrity of the Benevity philanthropy tracking system, creating, and maintaining monthly reports of budget allocations. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Manages accurate data entry in the Benevity database tracking system and prepares and analyzes reports for top management review on a monthly basis.
- Documents and reports on the status of grant proposals to internal and external customers.
- Identifies opportunities to strengthen, shape, and expand volunteer engagement across the Orange & Rockland service area.
- Assists in launching the Power of Giving Volunteer Council and cultivates employee volunteers for a regular cadence of community events.
- Serves as administrator for Orange & Rockland volunteer events, matching gifts, and STEM classroom grant programs.
- Coordinates budgets for the Orange & Rockland Fuel Fund, The Neighbor Fund, and New Jersey Shares emergency assistance program.
- Maintains relationships with a portfolio of existing grant partners and conducts site visits to assess the impact of grants.
- Identifies and cultivates relationships with new stakeholders in underserved communities focused on climate adaptation, social justice, and clean energy careers.
- Ensures strategic giving programs are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs, with a focus on under-resourced communities.
- Assists with the development of strong working relationships with all internal stakeholders, including Orange & Rockland Corporate Affairs team members.
- Supports ongoing evaluation and improvement of community programs to align with company goals and address emerging needs.
- Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among team members and external partners to maximize program impact.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and two years of related work experience or
- Associate's Degree and four years of related work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- Must have a minimum of two years related experience, required.
- Organized, detail oriented, and flexible with ability to manage multiple assignments, required.
- Ability to build strong customer relationships both internally and externally, required.
- Self-directed and able to contribute individually and as a member of a team, required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact and engage with all levels of personnel, required.
- Demonstrates positive work ethic with focus on personal accountability and commitment to providing excellent customer service, required.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with various corporate, non-profit, and public audiences, required.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, required.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required.
- Familiarity with grants and volunteer databases (experience with Benevity system) preferred.
Licenses and Certifications

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
