Senior Electrical Engineer | St. Louis, MO

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in St. Louis, MO, to lead electrical design and project delivery for moderate to complex building projects, including larger, high-complexity work with limited senior oversight. In this role, you'll provide project management and technical leadership across electrical engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight-partnering closely with engineers, designers, and consultants to develop code-compliant, practical solutions that drive strong client outcomes. You'll also support budget management, mentor and train team members, and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to meet schedule, scope, and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical system design and analysis using engineering tools; produce code-compliant designs, specs, and calculations aligned with IMEG standards.
  • Conduct site assessments; develop technical analyses and reports.
  • Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical solutions, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Perform in-process design reviews and apply IMEG quality control to ensure compliant, high-quality deliverables.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Support resolution of field issues with limited senior oversight.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies; contribute to R&D and innovation efforts.
  • Promote safety by identifying and mitigating electrical system risks.
  • Collaborate across disciplines (engineers, architects, PMs) to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Participate in project interviews and presentations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS;
  • Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
