Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician (Contract) to join our team based in Columbus, MS.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.

This position is 2nd shift hours (2:00pm- 10:30pm, M-F)

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our company's buildings, equipment and infrastructure. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Industrial Cleaner with at least one year of experience in light-duty to heavy-duty environments. Unlike standard commercial cleaning, this role requires the operation of industrial-grade equipment and strict adherence to safety protocols to maintain production efficiency and facility integrity. This role involves performing a wide range of cleaning, repair, and preventive tasks to support a productive and secure environment for employees and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of various Industrial cleaning disciplines, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to environmental health and safety.

Your working environment:

On the eastern border of Mississippi you'll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your Challenges:

General Industrial Cleaning Maintenance: 50%

  • Confidently operate floor scrubbers, pressure washers, industrial vacuums, and potentially forklifts or aerial lifts.

  • Mix and apply cleaning agents according to SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste.

  • Identify and report potential hazards; strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before cleaning moving parts.

  • Maintain cleanliness and tool control throughout the work area as well as mobile work carts.

  • Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with company standards and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Preventative Maintenance (PM): 35%

  • Perform periodic upkeep of buildings and infrastructure.

  • Perform scheduled industrial cleaning on equipment and infrastructure.

  • Maintain high-level cleanliness in "clean room" environments.

  • Ensure completion of routine PM Cleaning work orders at scheduled intervals as per the individual maintenance plans.

  • Conduct routine systematic walk-throughs inspecting all areas of the to spot potential issues before they become major problems.

  • Establish a detailed list of consumable supplies as needed for planned PM activities.

Repair and Troubleshoot: 10%

  • Assist in troubleshooting Industrial Paint Booth System Operations.

  • Perform a variety of general repair tasks including carpentry, painting, drywall repair.

  • Repair and maintain mobile cleaning equipment.

  • Respond promptly and efficiently to emergencies, troubleshooting problems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

  • Monitor Facilities Service Center requests strictly for paint booth requests and ensure completion within established timelines and quality standards

Additional Responsibilities: 5%

  • Assist in coordinating with external vendors and monitoring of their work performance

  • Participate in the company safety programs and TCO Objectives

  • Other duties as assigned

Your Boarding Pass:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 1+ years' experience in Facilities Maintenance or Industrial Cleaning

  • Ability to use cell phone and radio systems.

  • General knowledge of Google Suites or Microsoft Suite

  • Valid State Drivers License

  • Authorized to work in the US

Preferred Education/Skills:

  • Technical or vocational school certification in related field (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, industrial technology

  • 1+ years' experience as an environmental compliance technician

  • 1+ years' Industrial Paint Booth Systems Operations & Troubleshooting

  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems and their maintenance.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 100% Onsite; Full time evening shift.

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
