The Construction Engineering Services Practice is seeking a Lead Construction Inspector in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

In this position, you will provide on-site construction inspections and applicable documentation for transportation projects. This includes observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures consistent with State and Local guidelines.

This role will be based out of Coeur d'Alene, ID and typically works a 40hour, Monday-Friday schedule, with most time spent in the field and occasional office work as needed. Standard hours are around 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but actual hours and shifts may vary based on contractor schedules and project needs. Evening or weekend work may be required, and we aim to provide advance notice whenever possible.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads and performs complex construction inspection and observation assignments on projects of all sizes.
  • Monitors and manages contractor progress in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Coordinates the required materials, samples, and testing and maintain accurate daily work reports (labor, equipment, materials, quantities).
  • Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders.
  • Resolves field construction issues, performs contract administration functions, and communicates effectively with project stakeholders.
  • Supervises and mentors less experienced inspectors on the team.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • 15+ years of experience with progressively complex construction inspection experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
  • Excellent skills in working independently in the field.
  • The successful candidate must be able to effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through completion.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, required for field assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 9-12 years of construction inspection experience working on large roadways, bridges, and highway projects.
  • Applies expert construction field knowledge to inspect a broad range of construction trades and activities.
  • Will possess multiple state, national, or internationally recognized construction inspection certifications.
  • Ability to provide guidance to project owners and junior inspectors upon request from local DOT clients.
  • ITD project experience (ODOT and WSDOT are also considered).
  • ITD Inspector Certifications (ODOT and WSDOT are also considered).
  • Experience inspecting Federally funded projects.
