The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit is seeking a LiDAR data analyst.

A typical day for a LiDAR Data analyst is project- and delivery-focused. The role involves acquiring, processing and reviewing imagery and calibrated point cloud datasets provided by other remote sensing team members. Sensors for collection of data include small unmanned aerial vehicles, with lidar and/or camera systems, vehicle mounted laser scanners with cameras, and helicopters or aircraft with mounted laser scanners and camera packages. Missions can consist of single days to multiple days depending on the scope and requirements provided by PMs and clients. Throughout the day, the analyst provides progress updates, collaborates with team members, and participates in project kickoff meetings to understand customer requirements and contribute feedback to help ensure project expectations are met.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead end to end LiDAR surveys and processing for trajectory-based systems
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Develop and refine internal LiDAR processing standards and best practices
  • Perform classification, filtering, and feature extraction from point cloud datasets
  • Generate and validate deliverables including DTMs and 3D models
  • Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and GIS professionals to support project needs
  • Assist with project scoping, scheduling, and technical proposals
  • Assist with development of marketing materials for internal and external sales efforts
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior technicians
  • Evaluate and implement new LiDAR technologies and software tools
  • Maintain and track equipment and vehicles to ensure safe, proper operation.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with 3D laser scanning, inertial navigation, GPS data collection, and data post-processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with UAV/drone operations and regulations/possess FAA Part 107
  • Strong knowledge of geospatial data formats
  • Strong knowledge datums and coordinate systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving/analytical skills
  • Willing to travel for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in Lidar acquisition and processing
  • Software proficiencies: RiProcess, Applanix Pospac, Bentley/MicroStation products, Topodot, Terrasolid products.
  • Experience using advanced or non-traditional geospatial technologies such as scanning, modeling, or AI-assisted data analysis.
