Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager (NM) and the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific duties that support patient care. These duties include direct and indirect patient care activities which are essential to providing comprehensive care to patients. Responsibilities
- 1. Under the direction of the RN, engages in selected tasks and activities as directed to obtain and report information to assist the nurse in the assessment, planning and evaluation of patient needs, treatment and reports deviations as identified to RN.
- 1.1 Identifies changes in patient's condition and communicates significant observations to the nurse in a timely fashion as indicated by report to the nurse.
- 2. Under the direction of the RN, performs technical duties and selected treatments, procedures and activities which contribute to safe and efficient delivery of patient care.
- 2.1 Accepts report on assigned patients and demonstrates understanding as evidenced by her/his communication.
- 3. Performs decentralized laboratory testing as credentialed.
- 3.1 Appropriately collects specimen and performs test following established policy and procedure as observed by supervisor.
- 4. Effectively assists in the care of patients with consideration for the safety of key populations as appropriate.
- 4.1 Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary team offering suggestions on addressing patient/family needs, taking into account cultural and/or individual diversity and demonstrates sensitivity to these aspects of care delivery.
- 5. Completes non-therapeutic functions as assigned by NM/designee.
- 5.1 Orders internal and external supplies according to departmental schedule as evidenced by feedback from staff and as observed by supervisor.
- 6. Effectively and professionally communicates and interacts with patients, families, and staff. Covers the Business Associate (BA) desk in the absence of the BA under the direction of the NM or designee.
- 6.1 Participates in receiving patient bedside report at the beginning of each shift and throughout the shift as needed.
- 7. Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in daily performance of role.
- 7.1 Relocates and rotates to meet patient care needs as observed by supervisor.
Qualifications
EDUCATION High school diploma or GED; and CNA or other educational equivalent, i.e. Medical Assistant, CPCT, EMT, a student nurse from an accredited program or LPN. EXPERIENCE 1 year Clinical Care provider experience. LICENSURE CT CNA certification, EMT, a student nurse from an accredited program or an LPN. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training must be obtained prior to employment or within one (1) month of hire. PCT must maintain BLS at all times during employment. If any training expires, the PCT will be suspended until it is obtained and documented. SPECIAL SKILLS Certified Nursing Assistant, Good interpersonal skills. Speak and write English proficiently. Successful completion of orientation/evidence of positive initiatives with patients and staff.
