WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located at our Elizabethtown, KY location, you will be an IT Systems Administrator.



The IT Systems Administrator is the primary on-site IT resource, responsible for maintaining and supporting the facility's technology infrastructure. This role ensures servers, networks, shop floor devices, and business systems operate reliably and securely to support daily plant operations. You will troubleshoot technical issues, perform system maintenance and upgrades, and partner with Corporate IT to align with global standards - helping minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities: (just to name a few)

  • Maintain and administer site IT infrastructure including servers, storage systems, backups, network equipment, industrial PCs, shop floor devices, time management systems, and access control systems.
  • Support manufacturing systems and production floor technology to minimize downtime and operational disruption.
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, configuration management, and preventative maintenance in accordance with corporate standards.
  • Conduct daily system health checks and proactively resolve performance or security issues.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of site IT assets including procurement coordination, deployment, tracking, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with Gates IT security policies and cybersecurity standards.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents, service requests, and change tickets through the corporate ITSM platform.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for plant employees and leadership.
  • Support WiFi-enabled industrial devices including barcode scanners and handheld equipment.
  • Serve as local "hands and feet" support for Corporate IT and third-party vendors.
  • Clearly communicate technical issues and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Lead or support local IT infrastructure projects following Gates Corporate IT Project Management Framework.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase system reliability and reduce operating costs.
  • Support initiatives targeting year-over-year reduction in site IT operating expenses.
  • Participate in global infrastructure standardization programs across facilities and regions.
  • Work effectively with plant leadership, corporate IT, and cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate with approved vendors and service providers supporting site infrastructure.
  • Supervise contractors engaged in site-based IT projects when required.
  • Partner with plant leadership to align IT priorities with operational goals.
  • Assist with development and monitoring of the site IT budget.

ABOUT YOU

  • Diploma or degree in Information Systems required; Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in IT systems administration or infrastructure support required.
  • Experience supporting IT systems within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft environments; (Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365).
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and related services (DNS, DHCP, SMTP).
  • Experience with PC hardware, imaging, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and endpoint protection.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of warehouse technology, including industrial and WiFi-enabled devices.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
