Summary
Serves as the MGB subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all employee accommodation requests, including medical, pregnancy-related, and religious. This role is responsible for managing the entire accommodation life cycle by expertly facilitating the interactive dialogue process, ensuring compliance with federal and state disability and EEO laws, and delivering consistent, equitable accommodation outcomes across the organization. Evaluates accommodation requests within the context of legal requirements, business operations, and organizational capabilities, balances employee needs with operational requirements, essential job functions, and partners with managers and stakeholders to implement effective accommodation solutions. Essential Functions -Manages the complete reasonable accommodations interactive dialogue process from initial request through final resolution, including collection and review of medical documentation, coordination with employees and managers, assessment of accommodation feasibility, and implementation planning. -Conducts comprehensive interactive dialogue sessions with employees, managers, and relevant stakeholders to identify effective accommodation solutions that balance employee needs with operational requirements, essential job functions, and business constraints. -Documents all accommodation cases within the case management system, maintaining detailed records of interactive dialogue, medical documentation, accommodation assessments, implementation plans, and follow-up activities to ensure comprehensive audit trails and compliance tracking. Tracks and documents approvals and denials of religious accommodation requests as well. -Evaluates accommodation requests for feasibility, reasonableness, and business impact, considering job requirements, essential functions, workplace limitations, operational constraints, available accommodation alternatives, and hardship and/or undue burden assessment. Consults with Occupational Health as needed and in the process for clearance to return to work. -As necessary, investigates suspected cases of medical documentation falsification and fraudulent leave/accommodation requests, conducting thorough and objective reviews of documentation authenticity, interviewing relevant parties, and coordinating with appropriate resources to address fraudulent submissions. -Collaborates with the ERLR and Workforce Enrichment COEs to assess training needs and deliver education and training to managers, HR Business Partners, and employees regarding accommodation processes, interactive dialogue techniques, disability law compliance, and best practices. -Develops and maintains accommodation resources, including process guides, template communications, decision-making frameworks, and training materials to support consistent accommodation management across the organization. -Partners with the Office of General Counsel on complex accommodation cases, EEOC charges, accommodation-related litigation, and legal proceedings requiring expert testimony or detailed case documentation.
