Overview

TRC is seeking a Strategic Projects Manager to support the California residential electrification (RE) portfolio. The Strategic Projects Manager will work with the RE senior leadership team to design and implement cross-functional initiatives that contribute to program implementation and performance, portfolio development and growth, team operations, and overall goals. This individual will engage with internal RE and organizational leadership and management, internal counterparts and peers, and external clients and stakeholders. They will be an advocate for load shifting technologies, above-code energy efficiency and electrification measures, and market transformation. They will also support program implementation and the analysis and evolution of program design across the RE portfolio.

The ideal candidate will bring a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement, staying up to date on industry trends and best practices, evaluating the success of completed projects, and recommending and implementing improvements to support continued program efficiencies and implementation. They will also have a holistic strategic mindset and experience managing and interpreting the analysis of large quantities of data. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of energy programs and be able to anticipate causal relationships between participant engagement and program outcomes. They will enjoy a balanced workload between working with the team and working independently with a personable and approachable demeanor to engage with internal team members and external stakeholders. They will have strong leadership skills and display a track record of successful project/program development and execution. They are passionate about the environment and California's decarbonization objectives and are eager to contribute to paving the way for California's energy landscape into the future.


Responsibilities

Strategic planning:
  • Collaborate with senior RE leadership to define strategic project objectives and ensure alignment with portfolio and organizational goals
  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for key initiatives, including but not limited to portfolio-level performance and impact analysis, data and analysis systems, continuous improvement, market trends
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the portfolio and among the team, including assisting in the development and implementation of program management frameworks to standardize tools, techniques, and processes across the portfolio
  • Aid in developing and implementing a long-term strategic plan for the California residential electrification program portfolio, identifying opportunities for scaling and expanding programs across diverse markets and regions.
  • Provide and direct continuous improvement recommendations for business processes, program infrastructure, policies and procedures, training tools, and program documentation.
Project management:
  • Lead cross-program and cross-functional teams to execute strategic projects from initiation to completion, including but not limited to program management coverage and process improvements
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation within the parameters of individual programs and the RE portfolio
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
Stakeholder engagement:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for strategic projects and their stakeholders, facilitating clear expectations, communication, and alignment
  • Facilitate regular updates and presentations to management team, leadership team, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
Data analysis and reporting:
  • Analyze data to assess program performance and outcomes
  • Prepare detailed reports and dashboards to track progress and measure success
  • Use data insights to inform RE program design and delivery recommendations
Change management:
  • In consultation with senior RE leadership, develop and implement change management strategies for strategic initiatives to ensure smooth adoption/transition of new processes/systems
  • Provide training and support to teams impacted by strategic initiatives
Leadership and team development:
  • Support the leadership and management of a diverse, interdisciplinary team of technical, outreach, operations, IT and other support staff
  • Remove barriers, provide solutions, and optimize the team's success while supporting team member growth and development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, project management, business or related fields.
  • 6+ years of professional business experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant program implementation or large project management experience within the energy sector.
  • 3+ years of experience engaging complex and diverse teams effectively.
  • Hands-on management experience in a fast-paced consulting environment with exceptional attention to detail and client service.
  • Success in developing and implementing projects/programs or plans and management of budgets and resources.
  • Must have valid California Driver's License prior to employment, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel within California service territories.
  • Residency in California.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
