Department Overview

PG&E's Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Position Summary

This position is headquartered in Caruthers, CA and is on-site.

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Energy Storage facility.. Ensures plant operational goals are met and that operational excellence is achieved and maintained.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.

The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

California Minimum: $122,000

California Maximum: $207,000

Responsibilities:

Job Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assures the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) is implemented, assures compliance with safety rules and regulations, and assures that safety is the number one priority for plant employees and contractors. Ensures staff compliance with all site safety requirements. Assures plant maintenance is conducted in full compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Oversees the safe and efficient maintenance of the Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Storage facility equipment. Ensures that the maintenance staff functions in a manner consistent with plant, functional area, and company goals and policies.
  • Develops and implements maintenance procedures (both corrective and preventative) to ensure site maintenance goals are achieved.
  • Evaluates facility maintenance to identify and implement opportunities for safety, reliability, and efficiency improvements. Effectively utilizes partnerships with other site managers, vendors, contractors and suppliers to achieve best practices in the maintenance of the plant.
  • Develops maintenance budget plan and manages and monitors costs to meet budget commitment.
  • Implements and administers (with the maintenance planner) the site computerized maintenance management system, assists in the identification of critical spare part procurement, manages inventory in a manner consistent with plant needs.
  • Supervises the work of 4-6 Power Plant Technicians.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in power plant maintenance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is desired
  • Maintenance experience at a Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Energy Storage Facility
  • Experience with supervising maintenance employees at a Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Energy Storage Facility
  • Commissioning experience in a Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Energy Storage facility
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management system
  • Maintenance familiarity with Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Energy Storage systems
  • Experience writing maintenance procedures for Fossil Generation, Solar Generation, and/or Battery Energy Storage facilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Project
