The Manager - Network Records leads the team responsible for the management of essential outside plant (OSP) network records and processes received from our construction contractor partners. As a leader of this team, you ensure the geographic information system (GIS) records for existing and newly constructed outside plant network are documented and adhere to TDS standards. This position will develop and maintain processes to ensure our GIS associates can efficiently capture the OSP network assets, geographic properties and logical representations of cabling, splicing and rural utilities service (RUS) units installed by our contractor partners.

This position will manage internal and contingent associates to execute redline GIS contractor updates, audit and align existing network records to meet current standards, and participate in GIS system enhancement initiatives. You will work closely with engineering, construction and IT record peers to evolve the redline process to shorten the duration between construction and final records complete. You will focus on delivering GIS records to enable fiber services to meet service address budget.

The position requires a combination of GIS and construction knowledge, excellent analytical skills as well as expert knowledge of GIS systems. Ability to work with and build relationships with all levels of employees in the company.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.



Responsibilities

    Ensure timely execution of newly constructed OSP plant redlines into GIS system.
  • Participate in establishing system requirements and enhancements to gain efficiencies in passive optical network (PON) test sheet workflow.
  • Work to evolve the OSP construction contractor GIS redline processes to include new tools and methods.
  • Lead initiatives to analyze and adhere existing network GIS records to current standards when related to construction initiatives.
  • Handles escalated redline issues from Network Service's construction and contractor resources to determine root cause related to underlying processes, training deficiencies or system issues.
  • Provides overall direction and leadership for all GIS construction redline requirements consistent with the needs of the business. This includes development and improvement of outside plant process, procedures, tools, datasets, and records related to the use of GIS by our construction contractor partners.
  • Works closely with GIS peers to coordinate and provide GIS training for construction contractor partners external to TDS.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 8+ years' work experience in the telecommunications, data networking, or related field.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong, proven analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with limited guidance and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, with advanced-to-expert knowledge of MS Excel and a strong comprehension of Power Point and Word functionalities.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure, maintain a strong attention to detail, and meet or exceed expectations within tight deadlines.
  • Strong enviornmental systems research institue (ESRI) skills including tool customization, troubleshooting, map creation, symbology edits, along with bulk update attributes.
  • Proven written and oral communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven process improvement and documentation of step-by-step processes skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of tools like Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx.
  • Organized, self-motivated, detail orientated, analytical, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • A team player who can work through challenges.
