Job Description

Summary

The electrical engineer will design, develop, test, troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain electrical components, control circuits, high-power electrical systems, and manufacturing equipment including motors, pumps, and industrial melting furnaces (induction, electric).

Essential Functions

* Design / Development / Test: Electrical systems for induction and electric furnaces including power distribution, heating components, and control panels. Program PLCs and wire to interface with machines.

* Test and Analysis: Test systems / analyze equipment for performance, safety, and reliability. Repair/replace amplifiers, circuit boards, other electronic components. Reload system programs, parameters, and software.

* Project Engineering: Manage technical details of installation, commissioning, upgrades, and adherence of safety standards, codes (Local, State, Federal). Prepare specifications for purchase of electrical equipment and materials.

* System Optimization: Improve energy efficiency, troubleshoot electrical failures (sensors, power supplies). Assist mechanics in troubleshooting and repair of machine controls, HVAC, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls.

* Tools and Technology: Proficient in CAD software, simulation tools (MATLAB), and electrical simulation software (ETAP), thermal processing controls/output controls of furnaces,

Education and Experience

* Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree / education

* 1-4 year experience preferred in industrial, high-voltage, or thermal processing environments.

Competencies

* Excellent communication and technical writing skills

* Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills

* Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams

  • Thorough understanding of OSHA, JIC, ANSI, NEMA, and National Electrical Code.
  • Incumbent is expected to collaborate with superiors and/or peers for advice and guidance on matters, which have a significant impact on the business.
  • Electrical, mechanical skills and experience manufacturing processes to determine equipment, material and manpower needs and to develop and coordinate equipment repair and changeover processes.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) program preferred
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools (RCA, PMs and Pdms).
  • Excellent personal time management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities with possible conflicting deadlines.
  • Must have good analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Good working knowledge of all MS Office applications, internet applications, and AutoCAD.
  • Must be proficient in the use of analytical tools and techniques to analyze data, train others and participate in teams to find solutions to problems.
  • Must have a "Hands On" approach to resolving issues.
  • Establish good working relationships with leadership team, peers, production team, vendors and contractors; team oriented.
  • Must be proficient in the use of communications techniques (oral and written; speaking and listening) to transmit ideas to individuals and groups.
  • High level of self-motivation to perform and succeed.

* Able to work out/with normal office hours as business requires.

* Performs all aspects of the position according to the PCC Code of Ethics.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. May be required to operate a forklift and hand tools.
