Job Title: Material Handler - Fabrication (Fab)
Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, and supplying raw materials and finished goods within the fabrication department. This position ensures materials are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently to support production schedules and maintain workflow.


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes
  • Transport raw materials (steel, aluminum, parts, etc.) to designated fabrication areas
  • Stage materials for welding, machining, cutting, and powder coating processes
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages or damaged goods
  • Label and organize materials according to company standards
  • Remove scrap and maintain clean, organized work areas
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements
  • Support production teams to ensure on-time job completion

Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous warehouse or fabrication experience preferred
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification)
  • Ability to read basic work orders and material lists
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures typical of a fabrication shop
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment
  • Ability to load and unload parts off of paint racks


Work Environment

  • Industrial fabrication shop environment
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
  • Required use of steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and other PPE
