Torch is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Human Machine Interface (HMI) to provide senior-level technical leadership supporting system architecture, integration, modernization, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) strategy.

This role is reserved for a highly experienced engineering professional (30+ years of progressive experience) with deep domain authority in management systems and advanced HMI design principles. The incumbent will be leveraged for high-impact, complex, and mission-critical assignments requiring expert-level systems knowledge, cross-functional leadership, and independent technical judgment.

This is a Temporary-On-Call (TOC) position supporting surge capacity, specialized, under no circumstances may a TOC employee exceed 900 total hours annually, regardless of business demand.

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Human Machine Interface (HMI) your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for management system architecture, design standards, and system integration within the Western Region.
  • Provide SME support and technical insight to complex engineering design efforts involving multi-system coordination and enterprise-level integration.
  • Advise leadership on system strategy, modernization roadmaps, risk mitigation, and reliability improvements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of critical system performance issues.
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to engineers and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Contribute to long-term system planning and infrastructure resilience initiatives.
  • Provide surge support for high-priority capital programs and mission-critical system initiatives.
  • Recognized subject matter expertise within HMI system design and integration.
  • Ability to operate autonomously on highly complex technical assignments.
  • Strategic engineering influence across programs and regions.
  • Advanced problem-solving in ambiguous, high-impact environments.
  • Proven ability to guide technical standards and influence engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or related discipline).
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in system design, integration, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Demonstrated SME-level expertise in management systems and enterprise-level integration.
  • Extensive experience leading complex technical initiatives.
  • Exceptional analytical, systems-thinking, and technical communication skills.
  • Experience advising executive or senior leadership on system strategy.
  • Must have an active secret clearance.
