Job Summary The Dean of Academic Affairs position assists the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA), the Faculty Chairs, and others in supporting college business and student success. Additionally, this role serves as an advocate and facilitator for retention and success initiatives in identified instructional areas. This may include grant supervision, Achieving the Dream (ATD) responsibilities aligned with the Fields of Interest (FOI) and Guided Pathways, program reviews, instructor evaluations, and data-informed decision-making within a framework of collaboration and shared governance. This Dean of Academic Affairs will be expected to support and coordinate events that promote or celebrate student achievement and engagement by serving on various committees and actively participating in leadership meetings and through shared governance. Finally, the Dean of Academic Affairs will assist with hearing student code of conduct violations and supporting other matters that may arise in Academic Affairs. Essential Functions 35% - Provides leadership for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic, occupational, and allied health programs and services to meet the needs of students, faculty, local businesses, and industry 25% - Assists and advises the VPAA in matters pertaining to academic, occupational, and allied health education and student success; utilizes data for budget development, curriculum planning, and staffing decisions 15% - Actively engages with the community and employer partners in person with the purpose of creating new partnerships, responsive programs, and new revenue opportunities 15% - Provides leadership for academic innovation and improved student success outcomes by working in person with faculty and staff; responds to student issues in accordance with the college's Student Code of Conduct 10% - As a member of the college leadership team, participates in person on executive councils, academic advisory committees, and performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in a teaching field related to the area(s) of assignment and four (4) years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education, and three years of teaching that includes curriculum/coursework development. Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience include: academic department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor office environment.
