Position Summary:

The Extra Help Building Service Worker performs the services that provide a clean, safe and sanitary environment for Campus Housing residents, guests and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform tasks relating to the maintenance of floors and other surfaces, including vacuuming, mopping and washing.
  • Perform tasks relating to the renovation of floor surfaces, including application of stripping/finish chemical, scrubbing, scrapping, and buffing.
  • Perform tasks relating to providing a clean/healthy environment in residence hall bathrooms and public restrooms including approved methods of handling/cleaning blood borne pathogens and other body fluids in lavatories, sinks, shower stalls, bathtubs and toilets.
  • Perform tasks relating to the cleaning, sanitizing and/or dusting of windows, wall partitions, door glass, furniture, baseboards, waste receptacles, garbage compactors, countertops, microwaves and refrigerators.
  • Shovel or sweep snow from steps and immediate areas at building entrances.
  • Using approved methods and formulas, mix cleaning chemicals for application.
  • Provide maintenance of carpet flooring- Operate automatic scrubbers, power sweepers, vacuums and buffers used in connection with building cleaning.
  • Collect and place debris and recyclable materials removed from buildings in containers for removal.
  • Move furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for the handling of keys, locking and unlocking doors to buildings, offices, meeting rooms, or student rooms.
  • Report all items that require maintenance/repair.
  • Provide effective customer service to residents, guests and customers
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
