Cherokee Federal seeks a Biologist (Researcher V) to support our federal client in Gainesville, FL. You will assist leadership, align science and workforce plans, and integrate policies, publications, and proposals into the Center Director's decision-making.. Full-time; some travel may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Researcher V: $34.00 Hourly

Pay commensurate with experience.

Researcher V Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the federal Science Plan: populate C2G with "C2G Alt" data; run IPDS reports to clean records; consult on BASIS+ narratives; participate in science reviews; codify the Science Advisory Committee; update intranet science pages with Branch Chiefs; assess risks and brief Branch Chiefs, Deputy, and Center Director.
  • Support federal Workforce Plan: meet with facilities, safety, and administrative staff; consult with Deputy on operational needs; update Outside Engagement tasking with leadership; align science requirements with operational needs to build a workforce model; assess risks and provide expert opinion to leadership.
  • Deliverables and quality: produce federal Science Plan support, Science Committee Charter, and Workforce Model with 98% completeness and 100% timeliness; submit monthly progress reports with 99% accuracy; adhere to safety procedures and QA for analyses; prepare data files and graphics for leadership use.
  • Coordination and integration: maintain awareness of federal agency guidance and Executive/Secretarial Orders; track publications, proposals, and succession plans; engage stakeholders, schedule reviews, and document decisions.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Researcher V Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Ph.D. in Biology preferred; advanced expertise in wetland ecology, coastal wetland sampling techniques, ecological processing, and statistical methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, within established guidelines and procedures, and provide strategic scientific recommendations to leadership.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; experience preparing charters, plans, and leadership briefs.
  • Familiarity with agency systems and processes (e.g., C2G, IPDS, BASIS+), or ability to rapidly learn and operate within federal science program frameworks.
  • Ability to meet strict quality and timeliness standards; strong organizational and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • USAccess Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
