A well-established, mission-driven organization in the western suburbs of Chicago is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support its financial operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting overall fiscal responsibility. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with leadership and various departments to promote sound financial management and operational effectiveness. This position requires full-time, onsite presence five days per week in their Lisle, IL office location to support collaboration and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including preparation and review of journal entries
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Coordinate and support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Analyze financial results and provide reporting insights to leadership
  • Oversee core accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with financial planning activities
  • Support audit processes by preparing schedules and required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and applicable regulations
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in nonprofit, education, or multi-entity environments preferred
  • Oracle ERP system experience and advanced Excel proficiency required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
