Responsibilities
OHH Advanced Practitioner (Physician Assistant or AGAC Nurse Practitioner) - Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic & Hospital Services The OHH Advanced Practitioner provides specialized cardiothoracic surgical care and performs delegated medical services under physician supervision. This role supports the full continuum of care for cardiothoracic surgery patients, including pre-operative evaluation, post-operative management, hospital rounding, and outpatient follow-up. Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive evaluations for cardiothoracic conditions including coronary artery disease, valvular disease, thoracic aortic disease, and lung pathology Obtain detailed medical histories, perform focused cardiopulmonary examinations, and interpret diagnostic findings (imaging, labs, and cardiac testing) Perform pre-operative assessments, risk stratification, and patient education for cardiothoracic surgical procedures Manage post-operative care in clinic and hospital settings, including wound evaluation, chest tube monitoring, medication management, and complication surveillance Perform hospital rounding and evaluate new cardiothoracic surgery consults at assigned clinical sites Complete History & Physical (H&P) examinations, progress notes, operative follow-up documentation, and discharge summaries Manage an independent clinic schedule for post-surgical and long-term follow-up patients Maintain accurate and compliant electronic medical records (EMR) and dictate medical reports Respond to physician pager calls and manage patient needs while physician is in procedures, as directed Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and medical staff Maintain flexible work hours to support surgical service needs, including early, late, and variable shifts

Qualifications
Qualifications - Physician Assistant
- Graduate of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved Physician Assistant program
- Current Physician Assistant license through the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular, or surgical care experience preferred
Qualifications - Nurse Practitioner (AGAC)
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- National certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) from a certifying body recognized by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Oklahoma
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in acute care, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular medicine, or critical care preferred
Licensure/Certification: Current BLS certification required. Experience: Cardiology experience preferred.
