Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Location: Conover, NC
Reports To: Quality Manager
Department: Quality
Summary of Job
The Quality Technician assists the Quality Managers in managing the plants' Quality Assurance system. This includes helping establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS) and champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives in a team-based environment. Initiate and implement quality improvement activities to improve the performance of the company's product lines. Educate and train employees in other departments as to their impact on the quality management system.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis' core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
- Promptly respond to all quality defects reported by floor personnel.
- Investigate customer complaints.
- Ensure the implementation of Quality Assurance systems to ensure that WIP and finished goods specifications are met and that products shipped to customers are within specification.
- Coordinate ongoing activities to ensure that specifications represent fitness-for-use and are sufficient to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Follow customer CSIs for product specifications
- Assist in and document standard operating procedures and conditions for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in process/product development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
- Conduct various internal audits (process and product) and report on the results.
- Ensure proper containment and perform stock purges when required due to quality problems.
- Occasional involvement in Minor 5s tasks.
- Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Physical and visual inspection of products is required to prevent non-conforming goods.
- Promptly report all quality defects to Quality Managers
- Manage the plant on hold area including dispositioning items on hold, reporting out daily on items in the hold area, keeping the area organized and clean, working with the quality Manager to launch NCPs to suppliers as necessary.
- Attend meetings and completes safety training as required.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Competency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)
- Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others to ensure a positive teamwork culture.
- Previous experience with product testing in a lab environment.
- Promote positive teamwork culture.
- Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with leadership team members.
- Prior SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.

Position Type
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2-years manufacturing is preferred. A combination of education and experience within manufacturing will be considered.
- 3 to 5 years in a quality role within manufacturing facility desired. Equivalent combination of experience within manufacturing, where attention to detail is present will be considered.
