Description MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in South Portland, Maine is seeking a Board and CAQ Certified/Eligible Sports Medicine Physician to join its Orthopedic and Sports Medicine group. Candidates will have completed a fellowship in sports medicine. Their initial training could be in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or emergency medicine. This full-time position will supplement the busy practice of five primary care sports medicine physicians, two sports medicine specialized surgeons, and five sub-specialty surgeons. MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is a multi-disciplinary team of primary care sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurse practitioners, athletic trainers, and clinical and administrative staff committed to providing high quality medical and surgical care to patients of all ages. The MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team in South Portland includes eight joint replacement surgeons, four trauma and fracture care surgeons who are also members of Maine Medical Center's Level One Trauma Program, and six sub-specialty surgeons including pediatric orthopedics, sports surgery, and hand/foot/ankle surgery. The sports medicine team includes five primary care sports medicine physicians and two accredited sports medicine fellows. The successful candidate will work in the clinical setting in conjunction with the primary care sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, and other care teams within the department and will also be involved in the academic activities of the primary care sports medicine division, which include training and teaching of fellows and residents both in clinic and in the didactic setting. They will also participate in onsite athletic care to professional, collegiate and high school level athletes. In addition, they will cover local sporting events, work with community sports teams, and participate in office call .
