We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Senior Residential Counselor



The Senior Residential Counselor is responsible to deliver wellness and recovery-oriented case management and support services to service recipients The role provides support directly to the residents, including but not limited to: skill development, supportive counseling, transportation, crisis intervention, medication monitoring, assistance with task completion, vocational and social support. Additionally, actively supports the Residence Manager/Director in the management of the program's staff and resident treatment. The Senior Residential Counselor is available to cover open shifts when necessary to ensure adequate coverage at the facility at all times.



Maud Residence is a residential health care facility licensed by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs that serves consumers with psychiatric disabilities and co-occurring medical issues who have been discharged from a State psychiatric hospital. Location: Plainfield, New Jersey 07062 (Union County)



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, health or other appropriate human services related discipline and one-year of experience; or satisfactory combination of education and experience.
  • This position shall also have a valid state driver's license with a safe driving record that meets agency procedures.



Residential Counselor Principal Responsibilities:



  1. Provide on-site services and support to service recipient/s.
  2. Communicate observations and information about the service recipient to the residence manager, RN and treatment team.
  3. Supervise, organize and support recreational and/or socialization activities.
  4. Transport and/or assist service recipient/s with accessing transportation to appointments.
  5. Provide residential counseling and crisis intervention (but not including crisis intervention counseling).
  6. Participate in the development of the individual service plan.
  7. Participate in individual service coordination activities, including vocational and educational services.
  8. Document observations, information and services provided to the service recipient in progress notes.
  9. Maintain a clean, safe environment in the facility, including assisting with meal preparation as needed and working with counselors assisting them with maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the facility per licensing and VOA standards.
  10. Take the lead in onboarding, training, orientation of new staff to the program.



  1. Responsible for maintaining the scheduling of staff on a weekly basis to ensure all shifts are covered and adequate coverage is provided.
  2. Responsible for documenting in the EHR, the Weekly Attendance Verification Note (WAVN) after confirming that the nightly absence calendar is completed for the week to ensure that the attendance of all service recipients is accurate and up to date.
