Compensation At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $96,514 - $127,886.88. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
Join Our Team as a Project Engineer! Key Responsibilities:
- Design: Power distribution system design; specify and select power and communication system equipment; interpret scopes of work; communicate with clients; define engineering requirements.
- Drawings: Develop electrical drawings, including one line, three line, communication, and wiring diagrams.
- Documentation: Prepare clear documentation such as reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Control Systems: Design control systems and logic; determine and implement appropriate control sequences.
- Leadership: Provide technical guidance to project engineers; ensure design standards and best practices are followed; develop standard work practices for team use.
- Implementation: Develop relay settings; program microprocessor relays, microgrid controllers, and PLCs; support testing and commissioning of software, communication systems, relays, and power systems (on site or remote).
- Standards Compliance: Interpret and apply industry standards (NERC, FERC, IEEE, IEC) and international power market regulations.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Attend in person or virtual meetings as needed.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
What you'll Need To Succeed: Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
- 6-10 years of experience in the field.
- Occasionally required to travel and work extended hours when necessary.
- Depth of knowledge with SCADA systems and communication protocols Modbus and DNP3.
- Knowledge of codes and standards including NEC, NESC, and other relevant power system standards.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Experience commissioning power system projects.
- Experience with electrical power generation, distribution, and/or microgrids.
- Familiarity with substation IEDs.
- Strong hands-on debugging capability on hardware; strong system level integration ability.
- Able to travel to project and/or customer sites up to 20% of the time, with occasional trip durations exceeding 7 days.
- Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation). Able to liaise with key stakeholders in technical and non-technical roles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc), including excellent Excel skills and experience using Power BI or a related tool.

- Professional Engineer (PE)
- Master's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field
