Job Title: Instructor (non-tenure track Biostatistician/Quantitative Epidemiologist)

Position Summary: Albany Medical College is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual for the position of a Research Instructor with a specialization in Biostatistics and/or Quantitative Medical and Health Sciences Epidemiology. This is an entry-level faculty position ideal for early-career researchers or recent graduates seeking to build a career in academic medicine and clinical research. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment dedicated to advancing patient-centered research as well as basic science research.. Instructors with this specialization bring their skills in statistical analysis, study design (observational studies, clinical trials), and interpretation of complex health data to inform and guide research efforts. This appointment carries with it all rights and responsibilities associated with employment at the College, along with a faculty title of instructor, (non-tenure track), and is contingent upon approval by the College’s Committee on Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clinical and basic science faculty and research teams to design, implement, and analyze varying types of clinical and basic research studies ranging from primary observational studies, Randomized Clinical Trials, survey studies and retrospective analyses based on national databases, electronic health records, claims data etc.
- Provide expertise in experimental design, biostatistics, and data interpretation.
- Contribute to grant writing, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of research findings.
- Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in research methodology and statistical analysis.
- Participate and co-lead in courses on experimental design and analysis for medical and graduate students.
- Participate in departmental seminars, journal clubs, and academic development activities.
- Provide consultative services for investigators in the design of their research projects from the conceptual formulation through the completeness of the studies, including power calculations to determine sample sizes needed for a study to have statistical validity.
- Provide statistical consultation to hospital administration on quality improvement projects, disease control procedures and contribute to the development of quality initiatives based on epidemiological evidence from hospital data.

Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related quantitative field.
- Demonstrated experience in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, STATA, or Python).
- Demonstrated strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated strong foundation in quantitative research methods and data interpretation.
