Synchron has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to provide technical support to the Navy's New Attack Submarine Program Office (PMS 351). PMS 351 is responsible to PEO Submarines for the design and development of SSN(X), the Navy's newest class of nuclear attack submarine. They work directly with the shipbuilder to achieve a design that meets all of the required capabilities for this new platform. The SSN(X) program is critical to the future of our National Defense. You will provide direct support to the Navy's future attack submarine program and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day on-site support for future attack submarines design, development and R&D planning for SSN(X) program office.
- Generates strategic and detailed programmatic documentation, schedules, and plans, and plays a key role in coordinating action between the Ship Design Manager, financial staffs and the technical and R&D teams. Generates strategies, plans, schedules, and briefing materials to support the SSN(X) technical and R&D teams' near- and long-term planning efforts. Compiles and coalesces a vast array of inputs from various stakeholders into cohesive draft reports, briefs, and other products, often with very short turnaround times. Manages version control as products are reviewed by the customer and throughout the enterprise and generates final copies for delivery when complete.
- Compiles tasking proposals received by PMS 351 from across the submarine enterprise and generates high-level summary documentation used by the customer to prioritize them and determine funding levels for the next fiscal year. Tracks execution of tasking throughout the current year and documents receipt of deliverables.
- Assists with the planning and coordination of various studies, meetings, and working groups held with subject matter experts in narrow areas of expertise with the goal of defining specific problems and delineating areas of responsibility. Generates briefing materials, agendas, and rosters for all team meetings. During meetings, takes notes and generates written summaries and meeting minutes, logging all actions in a master tracker.
- Research requirements, conduct analyses, generate reports, and provide general program management support and programmatic administrative support and coordination
- Develop presentations and briefing materials
- Coordinate and/or participate in meetings and teleconferences with multiple stakeholders concerning technical issues, requested/recommended changes, and program status and issues
- Interface with various government and contractor representatives as needed to ensure the overall goals and objectives of the program are met
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in any engineering discipline.
- Extensive NAVSEA or submarine experience may replace the degree requirement
- 10 Years of professional engineering experience
- Technical knowledge and experience working with electrical engineering, battery and power systems
- Three (3) years of experience supporting Navy acquisition or operational programs
- Knowledge and experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and MS Teams
- DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired Education and Experience:
- US Navy operational experience in submarines
Work Location: Washington Navy Yard with telework options possible (max of one day per week).
Travel: Approximately 10%.
