What to Expect

Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers. The job involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making. The goal: delivering on time quantities of high-quality component parts into Tesla's production processes to enable extremely rapid development cycles and product launches.


What You'll Do
  • Plan, organize, and oversee industrialization activities within the supply chain team
  • Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla's pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality
  • Manage, audit, improve, and correct supplier planning and execution for component manufacturing and assembly, from advanced development through mass production qualification
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts at suppliers and drive improvements in scalability, cost, and quality, while facilitating technical communication between suppliers and Tesla's Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams
  • Guide suppliers in establishing robust processes and procedures for efficient and seamless high-quality product production and collaborate with Tesla's Design, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to define optimal performance specifications and supplier metrics
  • Lead, track, and enhance supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes, while advising on materials for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction
  • Conduct supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet performance, delivery, and reliability standards, and validate corrective actions to ensure robustness, sustainability, and consistent implementation across manufacturing lines and suppliers

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in metalworking and component machining, with a preference for experience in Stamping Process or Stamping Quality Engineering
  • Expertise in product quality management, with a deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection techniques
  • Experience working with heavy-gauge materials, high-strength steels and roll forming process is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in interpreting metrology inspection results and initiating corrective actions for any detected defects
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), capability indices, and data analysis
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage and direct supplier activities at a managerial level, with a proven track record of meeting customer requirements and expectations
  • Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time, possibly on short notice

    Expected Compensation
    $104,000 - $197,160/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
