We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to lead production, operational planning, and process optimization within our regulated defense manufacturing environment. This critical role ensures that our teams can deploy faster while maintaining full compliance, operate with confidence through robust processes and quality systems, and design with purpose by aligning manufacturing practices with mission-critical defense requirements.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in high-reliability manufacturing, strict regulatory adherence, and cross-functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations across manufacturing, production planning, supply chain, and quality to meet government contract requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Streamline workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and accelerate throughput to help the facility deploy faster while maintaining full compliance with DoD, DFARS, and ITAR standards.
  • Build robust operational processes that ensure all teams can operate with confidence in a high-stakes, audit-ready environment.
  • Ensure all manufacturing practices are intentionally structured to design with purpose, supporting mission-critical defense applications.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop production and operations teams, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Foster strong collaboration across engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and program management to ensure integrated, confident operations.
  • Provide leadership that reinforces purposeful decision-making, traceability, and adherence to defense manufacturing standards.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times and support "deployment" of product faster and more efficiently.
  • Ensure process improvements are thoughtfully engineered to design with purpose, maintaining product integrity and mission readiness.
  • Use data-driven decision making to strengthen reliability, repeatability, and confidence in manufacturing output.
  • Ensure full compliance with defense industry regulations including ITAR, FAR/DFARS, AS9100/ISO 9001, and any customer-specific requirements.
  • Maintain audit readiness and oversee corrective actions for internal, customer, and government audits.
  • Identify operational risks early and implement robust mitigation strategies, ensuring teams operate with confidence under strict regulatory expectations.
  • Monitor production schedules, capacity planning, and workflow alignment with contractual milestones.
  • Partner closely with Quality Assurance to guarantee products meet stringent defense specifications and reliability standards.
  • Support FAI, PPAP, and other critical defense manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide operational reports, production metrics, forecasting data, and schedule risk assessments to senior leadership and program teams.
  • Track KPIs related to throughput, on-time delivery, scrap/rework, compliance, and quality performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Proven success in managing production teams and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment while balancing speed, quality, and mission-focus.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience operating within an AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Effective communicator and leadership skills.
  • Experience in planning labor and material costing.
  • Solid judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills.
  • Must be able to qualify for and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
