Job Title: Mainframe CICS Engineer

Location(s): Atlanta, GA

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of CICS engineering, including system-level administration, software maintenance, and CICS operational support. The role requires hands-on experience supporting a large-scale 24 x 7 Sysplex and CICSPlex environment and close collaboration with application development and operations teams. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication capabilities, along with deep technical expertise in CICS internals, performance engineering, debugging, and dump analysis. On-call rotation and after-hours maintenance support are part of this role.

• Strong knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrades, and maintenance procedures.
• Deep understanding of CICS performance parameters within a CICSPlex environment.
• Experience analyzing CICS SMF records and using CICS Performance Analyzer.
• Hands-on experience with CICSPlex SM implementation, customization, and dynamic transaction routing.
• Strong familiarity with CICS resource definitions and performance-related attributes.
• Experience using CICS monitoring tools such as Sysview for CICS.
• Proven ability in problem determination, dump analysis, and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of COBOL to support application development teams.
• Experience with Mainframe WebSphere MQ.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with Assembler, COBOL, and REXX; familiarity with CICS exits.
• Exposure to web application support in CICS TS V5.x and/or V6.x.
• Understanding of key z/OS facilities: APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, RLS, Coupling Facility.
• Experience using CICS Configuration Manager.
• Working knowledge of z/OS & CICS Explorer.
• Understanding of CICS REST services.
• Prior experience in application programming is a plus.
