DESCRIPTION

This pharmacy technician 3 position supports the Owen clinic in a variety of ways. The position is focused on the coordination of long-acting injectable medications for HIV prevention (PrEP) supplied to patients both through our UCSD pharmacies but also via medical benefit billing. Responsibilities include prior authorization support, patient assistance program enrollments, inventory management, patient tracking, patient scheduling, benefit verification, and patient retention. The pharmacy technician works directly with the clinical pharmacists at the Owen clinic to optimize medication delivery for HIV prevention. The position also provides prior authorization support for all other medications prescribed at Owen clinic including overcoming medication acquisition challenges, and serves as a back up and assistance for our other pharmacy technician 3 position who manages all long acting injectable treatments provided at Owen clinic for HIV treatment and substance use disorder treatments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of retail or outpatient clinic experience is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Epic and/or Willow Ambulatory.
  • Experience with pharmacy and medical benefit prior authorizations.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,756 - $84,209 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.45 - $40.33

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
