At MasTec Civil, LLC, the Assistant Project Manager reports to and is responsible

for assisting the Project Executive with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the project(s) to meet schedule and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, construction coordination and contract administration functions.

Responsibilities

    Assist the Project Executive (PE) in all phases and aspects of the project.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of the construction progress schedule through coordination with Construction Manager, Superintendent, Project Engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. Update the schedule monthly or as required by the Contract.
  • Distribute all interval and overall project schedules. Ensure subcontractors have the most up to date scopes of work.
  • Complete subcontractor evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope review, and complete buyout as requested by PE.
  • Ensure contracts, insurance, and bonds are current and received before subcontractor performs any work
  • Secure properly executed subcontract and purchase order agreements, insurance certificates, bonds and other documents as required.
  • Prepare, expedite, and monitor logs for tracking design plans, shop drawings, contract documents, submittals, request for information, change orders, material delivery logs and other as necessary for a successful project.
  • With the Superintendent and/or Project Engineers, monitor and expedite the delivery of materials and processing of invoices.
  • Assist the Superintendent to ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the contract requirements and specifications and with the required quality.
  • Assist the Project Executive in the development of the monthly status report and participate in the monthly presentations to Leadership.
  • Complete quantity take-offs as requested by estimating and PE.
  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contract with Owner, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
  • Assist in expediting payment from the owner and expedite prompt processing of invoices and prompt payment through to subcontractor for amounts due to them.
  • Assist in the preparation of change proposals, change orders review, issues change orders to subcontractors and Project Accountant.
  • Prepare revisions to the master cost codes as a result of change orders and management revisions with direction of PE.
  • Document potential schedule delays and promptly submit request for extension of time and/or additional costs as per terms of Contract.
  • Maintain good relationships with the owner, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, municipal authorities and company personnel involved with the project.
  • Consistently follows/enforces the Company's safety procedures and policies.
  • Actively participate and/or lead post-bid, buyout, coordination, subcontractor, staffing, scheduling and other meetings.
  • Prepare meeting minutes as directed by PE.
  • Maintain and Track Project Closeout Activities.
  • Review project designs and contribute ideas for improving constructability and reducing costs
  • Assist in managing the field and project team successfully and collaboratively.
  • Manage project administration files and flow of information for assigned project.
  • Assist with field quality control, subcontractor coordination, photo documentation, buyout activities, and project closeout.
  • Perform site safety walks, promote and enforce safe work practices.
  • Use project management and scheduling software consistently and accurately.
  • Attend company and industry events including meetings, trainings, workshops, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned or needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Science and Management
  • 8-10 years of heavy highway experience; 2+ years of progressive project management experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering registration in civil engineering preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience in Design-Build project delivery preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other management software
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Self-starter who works well independently
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure
