Engineering Intern Deer Island Treatment Plant Winthrop, MA

The MWRA Deer Island Engineering Department has an opening for a winter internship.

Job duties include:

• Assists with inspection of new plant process equipment for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Verify plant installations are consistent with facility as-built drawings.
• Performs basic engineering calculations to select new equipment.
• Assists with construction field oversight.
• The preferred candidates will be at least a junior in a college degree program in electrical or mechanical engineering.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver's license.

Supervision Received:

• Works under the general supervision of a Sr. Program Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with inspection of construction work performed by contractors to insure compliance with the plans and specifications.
• Assist with inspection of materials delivered to construction sites to verify compliance with specifications and approved submittals.
• Assist performing basic engineering calculations (e.g. / electrical conductor and conduit sizing, pressure and flow for piping and pumping systems, etc.).
• Assist with preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Work Location: MWRA, Deer Island Treatment Plant, 190 Tafts Ave, Boston, MA.
• Work Schedule: Monday Friday 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
• Internship duration: December - May.
