We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join the Data team within the Concept Research and Development department. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting medical cost savings teams by providing data analysis for payment integrity concepts and ideas. The ideal candidate will have experience in claims processing or claims analysis, solid analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Concept Research & Development is an ideation team within the Product area of Payment Integrity, focused on sourcing and shaping innovative concepts to drive healthcare cost savings for UnitedHealthcare and Optum Health.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with claims analysts to understand data requirements, then extract and manipulate data sets to meet those requirements
  • Collaborate with medical cost savings teams to identify opportunities for cost savings through data analysis
  • Support data research projects and work cross-functionally with other data teams to troubleshoot and identify data anomalies
  • Ensure data accuracy and attention to detail in all analysis
  • Mentor junior team members

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in claims analysis and data analysis, with a proven track record of delivering actionable insights
  • 5+ years of hands-on expertise in SQL and Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and complex formulas
  • 4+ years as a Data Analyst in a healthcare environment, leveraging data to support operational and strategic decisions
  • Experience mentoring junior team members
  • Proficiency with Snowflake, ideally using the Snowsight web interface
  • Proven solid ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets, applying advanced analytical techniques to identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations that improve decision-making

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in data engineering with Python
  • Knowledge of clams processing platforms such as UNET, NICE, COSMOS, FACETS, CIRRUS
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Proven excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven attention to detail and solid time management skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
