Overview

Deriva Energy, a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable U.S., who is a nationwide leader in sustainable energy provides wind, solar, resilient backup power, and managed energy services across the U.S., with a total electric capacity of more than 6,000 megawatts of nonregulated renewable energy is seeking an Insurance Analyst to be based in Charlotte, N.C.

Summary

The Insurance Analyst will support a variety of insurance needs within Deriva. This role involves working with various projects from development through operational phases to secure and maintain adequate insurance coverage. In addition, this role will be responsible for coordinating with internal departments, insurance brokers, insurance consultants and Brookfield corporate insurance for a variety of insurance matters.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare critical information to brokers and underwriters for policy renewals and new projects on a timely basis (Property & Casualty, G/L, XS Liability, WC, Auto, Aviation, Crime, etc).

  • Act as a liaison between business unit representatives, insurance brokers, Brookfield, Insurance Consultants, etc.

  • Collaborate with the capital markets team to determine insurance requirements for new tax equity, construction financing, and back leverage deals

  • Performs budget, analysis, allocations, and financial reporting of insurance premiums

  • Review insurance related invoices for accuracy, prepare allocations and process for payment

  • Track receipt of insurance related invoices and those that are pending

  • Maintain accurate records of insurance policies and project related documentation

  • Review insurance policies and endorsements for accuracy and completeness

  • Ensure that any required policy changes are completed in a timely manner and documented accordingly

  • Coordinates audits in a timely fashion

  • Analyzes, recommends, implements, and maintains compliance of insurance contractual requirements

  • Reviews insurance and indemnifications language in agreements

  • Issues and monitors Certificates of Insurance

  • Assist with a wide range of claim-related activities from claim reporting to maintaining accurate records of claims. Responsible for generating claim reports monthly

  • Provide risk reporting and analysis to management and supported business teams

  • Develop insurance presentations to use for internal and/or external purposes

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business Economics, or related discipline

  • One (1) year or more of experience working in insurance or risk management industry with a proven record of knowledge with commercial liability, property, and workers compensation insurance products

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Economics or related discipline

  • Three (3) years or more of experience related to insurance or risk management industry with a proven record of knowledge with commercial liability, property, and workers compensation insurance products

  • Proficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to complete responsibilities in accordance with tight timelines

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new theories and applications

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills to facilitate interactions with other and the accomplishment of job responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
