WAVE is currently looking for a Grid Painter to join our team!

This position is responsible for activities associated with powder coating operations. An operator must demonstrate the ability to coordinate all manufacturing functions such as obtaining operating supplies, preparation and handling of finished goods, application of powder finishes, and troubleshooting equipment to ensure quality and productivity efficiencies.

General Responsibilities:



  • Maintain continuous operations of powder coating equipment; powder coat changeovers, paint gun application, racking preparation, and work flow setup.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance production.
  • Perform visual and gauge-specific quality inspections of parts, and make corrective actions as required. Verify conformance of finished work-piece to specifications using inspection tools.
  • Perform basic machine preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain proper powder inventory.
  • Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner; use proper lock-out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Maintain Press tooling storage areas in an organized manner at all time.
  • Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Follow production operating schedule from computer system, planning, or supervision.
  • Periodically, inspect parts during shift to insure product quality standards are being maintained and to insure that there are no apparent defects developing with the tooling.
  • Inspect tooling for defects, tag and identify problems with defective tooling for review by supervision for possible correction.
  • Perform production inventory counts at the end of each shift and relay to appropriate personnel of the oncoming shift.
  • Insure that correct product labels are available at the line.
  • Must be able to analyze any malfunctions and report breakdowns or product defects to maintenance/supervisor.
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.


In addition to the above general responsibilities, a powder coat operator must preserve a safe work environment and work in a safe manner following all safety SOPs.

Qualifications:



  • Able to lift a maximum of 50-55 pounds
  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
  • Preferred knowledge and experience with powder coating equipment in manufacturing environment, or similar


Disagreeable Conditions:



  • Repetition using arms/shoulders. Wearing a half face respirator. Annual medical evaluations. Heat from oven. Occasional odor of curing substrates. Areas may be loud. All breaks determined by production line status.
