The Instructional Development Specialist supports the Associate Dean for cHOP, cHOP Pillar Leaders, and departmental staff. This role provides the expertise in the design and customization of training materials, marketing materials and other resources that will meet the needs of internal and external clients.

Administration 30 %
- Advises and assists staff with techniques that should be used in the planning, design, evaluation and modification of course objectives related to non-medical consulting services and annual training programs.
- Assembles and maintains files related to content development and delivery of non-medical consulting programs and annual training programs.
- Assists and advises staff on techniques in conducting research on program areas including but not limited to gathering data, interpreting and reporting findings.
- Analyzes and interprets confidential data on curriculum content/delivery and faculty evaluations. Prepare reports and provides to cHOP Director.
Planning 35%
- Advises and assists staff in developing and implementing methods and instruments to evaluate student performance, instruction and course content and delivery related to non-medical consulting services and annual training programs.
- Plans and directs multimedia programs to support and deliver course content.
- Serves as expert on evaluation methods appropriate to short term and long-term evaluation of curriculum. Utilizes current literature to advise staff in revising and updating training materials.
Design 35%
- Designs university/campus interdisciplinary programs and courses. Designs evaluation methods and documents and designs methods for delivery of courses.
- Designs evaluation methods appropriate to short term and long-term evaluation of curriculum. Utilizes current literature to advise staff in revising and updating training materials.
Locates, appraises and designs instructional materials and multimedia for possible support of non-medical consulting services and annual training.

Qualifications
-
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
- Master's degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities such as history, political science, literature, journalism, communications, or philosophy
AND Six (6) monthsof experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching OR - Baccalaureate degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities
AND Eighteen (18) months of experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of Microsoft office, graphics, and web page development software
- Skill in the operation and maintenance of instructional communications equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to define key concepts in educational methodology
- Ability to extract salient points of a paragraph on some aspect of educational methodology
- Ability to construct proper sequencing of itemized action steps needed to solve a particular problem or task in educational planning or instructional design
- Ability to work independently and objectively in a non-routine environment in close association with members of teaching faculty
- Ability to interpret, explain, and implement university/campus educational policy to members of teaching faculty
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
