Overview

Shermco Industries is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Fleet Management to lead the strategy, management, and performance of our nationwide fleet of over 1,100 vehicles. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and cost-effective operation of all fleet assets that support our field technicians and project teams. The Fleet Director will oversee all aspects of fleet acquisition, maintenance, safety, compliance, optimization and cost control while driving continuous improvement across the organization.

This position will work onsite in our Irving, TX location 4 days per week and one day remotely from home.

Responsibilities

    Fleet Strategy & Leadership
    Develop and execute a comprehensive fleet strategy aligned with Shermco's operational goals and growth objectives.
    Provide vision and leadership to the fleet management team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and efficiency.
    Hold Steering Committee meetings to drive strategy and adoption.
  • Fleet Operations Management
    Oversee day-to-day operations for over 1,000 company vehicles, including light-duty trucks, service vans, and specialty equipment used by field technicians.
    Ensure vehicles are available, reliable, and maintained to support nationwide electrical testing and maintenance services.
  • Maintenance , Fuel & Lifecycle Management
    Manage preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, repairs, and replacements to minimize downtime and maximize vehicle lifespan.
    Establish effective replacement and remarketing programs for aging fleet assets.
  • Financial Oversight
    Develop and manage the annual fleet budget, including CAPEX, maintenance, fuel, insurance, and replacement costs.
    Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through data analysis, standardization, and vendor negotiations.
  • Compliance & Safety
    Partner with the Safety and HR departments to promote safe driving programs, driver training, and accident prevention initiatives.
  • Technology & Data Management
    Implement and manage fleet management and telematics systems to monitor performance, utilization, and compliance.
    Provide leadership with regular reporting and key performance insights.
  • Vendor & Contract Management
    Lead relationships and negotiations with vehicle manufacturers, leasing companies, fuel providers, maintenance vendors, and telematics partners.
  • Sustainability & Innovation
    Explore and evaluate alternative fuel vehicles, electric vehicle adoption, and other sustainable fleet initiatives that align with Shermco's environmental and operational goals.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field required, master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive fleet management experience, including leadership of large-scale, multi-state fleets. Must have experiene managing a fleet of 1000+ vehicles
  • Experience within field services industries is desired but not required.
  • CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Skills: Strategic thinker with proven operational execution, strong analytical and financial management capabilities, deep knowledge of fleet compliance standards, exceptional communication and leadership skills, proficiency with fleet management software and telematics tools. Must have the ability to communicate at the highest levels of an organization.
