FlexStaff is seeking a Neuro Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist to work for one of our external clients, a city health system, located in Brooklyn, NY.

This is open ended temporary contract. Schedule: Monday - Friday / 7 AM - 3 PM. On-Call if needed.

Requirements:



  • A minimum formal education of Associate Degree or certification equivalent and a minimum of 3 years job-related experience.
  • Certification and current registration in Vascular- Interventional Technology (VI) by ARRT is highly preferred
    License, NY State Radiologic Technologist License & ARRT Certification.
  • Requires minimum three years of previous experience performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures on the brain and spine.


In this role you would be prepping and draping the patient prior to the procedure and scrubbing-in for the surgical portion of the procedure, and operating the radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment to produce the images.

Responsibilities:



  • Produces medical images to meet standards established in department protocols.
  • Verifies that area of interest has been imaged according to standard department protocols.
  • Operates various computer systems and ensures images are in PACS with the correct patient and examination identification information.
  • Operates contrast injectors.
  • Selects and modifies technical factors based on patient's age, weight, and physical condition to produce optimal images while keeping radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable.
  • Operates fixed and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
  • Produces hard-copy images and/or digitally archived images for use in patient care.
  • Assesses the patient in relation to the requested procedure by collecting pertinent data about the patient and the procedure.
  • Uses independent judgment and radiographic skills to position patients in order to obtain quality exams.
  • Assist in the billing process by providing/entering in the computer system the information about the supplies used.
  • Provides inventory control for vascular and interventional specific supplies such as catheters, guide wires, stents, procedure sets, etc.
  • Prep and drape the patient prior to any angiographic and interventional radiology procedures.
  • Documents information about patient care and radiologic services provided.
  • Prepares patient both physically and emotionally prior to examination, explaining procedures to allay patient fears.
  • Educates the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate regarding the requested procedure.
  • Analyzes collected data and uses professional judgment to select the most appropriate and cost-effective method for completing the requested procedure.
  • Alters positioning of patient and/or equipment as required by patient condition to obtain required images.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
