Overview

First Citizens offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Advisory & Portfolio Intelligence focuses on leading and supporting the efforts around credit, business and risk analytics to help optimize the portfolio. While most of the principal accountabilities are assigned by the intern's direct manager, there is a bank wide effort to make each intern a dynamic part of the team with interesting projects. Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, product strategy, process review and improvement.


Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events while having a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate both the bank and the program.
  • Each intern will be assigned a project which will be designed to improve a specific process, solve a problem and/or recommend strategy with an opportunity to present to a cross functional group of leaders at the close of the internship. A wrap-up presentation will be prepared by the Interns to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline their accomplishments and experience during the internship.

Internship dates: 5/27/2026 - 7/31/2026


Qualifications

Required qualifications:

* High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience

* Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)

* Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

Preferred qualifications:

*High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during time of summer program)

*Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

*3.0 Minimum GPA

*Strong verbal and written communications skills with desire to learn and grow

*Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others

*Critical thinking skills, Ability to multi-task, Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs, Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly

*Candidates should be working towards a degree in the following curriculums: Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Liberal Sciences, Accounting, Mathematics, Analytics

*Prior experience with presenting ideas to large groups

*Prior Coursework in Finance, Banking or Quantitative Modeling is a plus

*Prior experience with Python, SAS or database programming

The base pay for this position is generally between $18.00/hr and $25.00/hr. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
