Position Highlights

The School of Theatre, Film & Television seeks a Scene Shop Assistant, Carpentry Scene Shop to work in collaboration with undergraduate students in the Scene shop. This position will be in charge of maintaining and organizing the scene shop space, assisting in inventory, and guiding students.

Occasional weekends or late evenings, may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides assistance and mentoring to
    theatre students during lab hours for TAR 111, TAR 113, TAR187D, and TAR
    287A, under instructions from the Faculty Technical Director and Master Carpenter, to construct scenic elements for the production season.
  • Ensures proper technique and safety procedures are followed.
  • Collaborates with the technical director, Master
    Carpenter, and student workers to coordinate
    load in and show strikes.
  • Remains an available resource for student
    questions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to read technical drafting.

Physical/Environmental
Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds; lift constructed
    scenic items, ladders, large buckets of paint, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
