Job Summary

CT Technical Specialist will promote innovation and development of medical imaging. Assists all Monument Health medical imaging CT departments in implementation of new technology and maintaining high quality imaging. Assists with process improvement and standardization. Implements, maintains and monitors adherence to safety and quality control practices. Provides cost-effective high-quality service. Demonstrates and promotes a commitment to customer satisfaction and professionalism. Performs all essential job functions of a CT Technologist.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of patient positioning, principles of CT radiation exposure, quality control, image reconstruction, specialized protocols in a Level II trauma hospital setting, including but not limited to TAVR, perfusion studies, Cardiac CTA, AFIB angiograms as well as complex trauma situations and angiograms.
  • Prioritize patients and demonstrate the ability to plan work. Assists physicians in performing procedures and deliver high quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Able to start and maintain IV lines. Documents medication administration appropriately.
  • Competently works within required computer programs (i.e. PACs, RIS, RealRad) as well as manual downtime processes.
  • Ensures procedures and related supplies are billed correctly.
  • Continuously seeks and encourages others to identify opportunities for different and innovative approaches to address organizational problems and opportunities.
  • Assists in evaluating and troubleshooting equipment and protocols for Monument Health medical imaging CT system.
  • Coordinates implementation of new equipment in the Monument Health medical imaging CT system.
  • Demonstrates and promotes a commitment to patient satisfaction, customer satisfaction and professionalism.
  • Ensures safety requirements are met at Monument Health medical imaging CT system and assists with safety policy updates and staff training. Participates in all radiation safety meetings.
  • Acts as a technical resource person, providing information about related protocols to internal and external customers in cooperation with management.
  • Performs CT protocol implementation, from routine to complex, which requires independent judgment and responsibility; works closely with requesting providers, radiologists, RSO and application specialists to achieve desired results.
  • Provides a learning environment for technologists and students.
  • Develops and maintains teamwork.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Associates Related Field

Graduate - Radiology Program

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; (ARRT)(R) (CT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with advanced certification in Cat Scan

Experience - 3+ years of CT technologist experience

Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Education - Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences or related field

**Policy Number: MIS-7040-115 - Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.

Physical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
