Intern, Technical Undergraduate Year Round - Nuclear Security, Onsite

• Work as part of a team to assess the location and secure condition of nuclear material security assets.
• Help test and resolve software, coding, or reporting issues with the federal classified system or Sandia bolt-on classified system (once obtaining a security clearance).
• Participate in physical inventory activities for ANM at various locations at Sandia's Albuquerque, NM site.

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

• Background or interest in computer science, chemistry, or nuclear technologies.
• Safeguards and security interest or background, applying skills for national security applications.
• Strong communication and teaming skills.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) requires all sites that possess accountable nuclear materials to establish and maintain nuclear material management (NMM) and Material Control & Accountability (MC&A) programs. Nuclear Material Management programs are designed to ensure that nuclear materials are managed as valuable assets, used appropriately, and disposed of properly when no longer needed. MC&A programs are designed to deter and detect theft and diversion of nuclear material by both outside and inside adversaries. The Nuclear Material Management/MC&A Department develops and implements effective NMM and MC&A programs that are compliant with DOE/NNSA requirements, while supporting line organizations mission objectives.
