Overview

The Avionics Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and certification of aircraft electronic and electrical systems. This role ensures avionics systems meet all regulatory requirements, operate safely and reliably, and support operational efficiency. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams including maintenance, operations, and OEMs to resolve technical issues and implement modifications or upgrades.



Responsibilities

    Design, evaluate, and integrate avionics systems such as navigation, communication, flight control, and surveillance equipment.
  • Develop and review engineering documents, wiring diagrams, modification instructions, and certification reports.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA/EASA/Transport Canada and other applicable regulatory authorities.
  • Support the installation and testing of avionics systems on in-service and new aircraft.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for avionics-related discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and regulatory authorities on avionics upgrades, airworthiness directives (ADs), and service bulletins (SBs).
  • Participate in fleet reliability programs and analyze avionics system performance data.
  • Provide technical support to line and heavy maintenance teams.
  • Develop test procedures, perform ground and flight testing, and document results.
  • Contribute to aircraft modification projects, including connectivity solutions, cockpit upgrades, and next-gen navigation systems.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in avionics engineering or aircraft systems engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of avionics systems, wiring standards, and certification requirements (DO-178, DO-254, ARINC, RTCA standards).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FAA Part 25/121, EASA CS-25, or equivalent).
  • Experience with CAD tools, wiring harness design software, or avionics test equipment preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment.

Salary Range: $83,500- $113,500

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset.
