Working Conditions
Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree. The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties & responsibilities the employee maybe exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Work is performed in an interactive team environment with long periods of standing and exposure to biohazard materials such as bodily specimens (blood, urine, and oral fluid). Travel will be required to attend conference, training and possible varying work locations. Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency.
